How healthcare sharing works
Members contribute monthly, eligible medical needs are reviewed under the Membership Guidelines, and shareable amounts are paid from the membership escrow account.
-
1
Join the community
Complete the enrollment application, agree to the Statement of Standards, and submit the required contribution and Membership Commitment Form.
-
2
Use your membership
Choose a provider, show your virtual member ID card, and ask the provider to follow the billing instructions on the card.
-
3
Needs are reviewed
Caring & Sharing determines eligibility, applies the applicable MRA or co-share, and sends an Explanation of Sharing.
-
4
Eligible amounts are shared
Shareable amounts are paid directly to the provider, or the member may be reimbursed when eligible self-pay expenses are properly submitted.
Not a claims process
Members share eligible medical needs; they do not file insurance claims.
You remain responsible for your medical expenses as a self-pay patient. Eligibility is determined under the current Membership Guidelines.

Find a First Health network provider
LiveWell members use the First Health HealthShare Network as the primary medical network in their service area. The official provider locator opens in a new tab.
On the “Choose your network” screen, select “First Health network.”
Always verify before receiving care. Contact the provider to confirm current network participation, location, and whether the provider is accepting new patients.
Common questions
Understand healthcare sharing before deciding
Review these basics, then read the full Membership Guidelines for definitions, exclusions, state notices, and service-specific rules.
Read the Membership GuidelinesIs Caring & Sharing health insurance?
No. Caring & Sharing is a Healthcare Sharing Ministry. Members are self-pay patients, and membership is not offered through an insurance company.
Does the membership have a deductible?
No insurance deductible applies. Members select a Member Responsibility Amount, or MRA, that applies before sharing begins for eligible medical needs subject to that MRA. Other co-shares and service-specific MRAs may apply.
Can I use any provider?
Members may seek care from a provider of their choice, but the First Health HealthShare Network is the primary network for preferred access and discounts. Verify the provider's current participation before care.
Who can apply?
Applicants and qualified dependents must meet membership qualifications and agree to the Statement of Standards. The LiveWell materials describe an upper enrollment age of 64, with additional rules for spouses, dependents, and newborns.
Are pre-existing conditions shared?
Pre-existing conditions may be subject to two-year, five-year, or lifetime limitations based on the Membership Guidelines and medical-record review.
When can membership become effective?
An applicant may select the first day of the next month or a later month. The enrollment application, required fees or donation, first contribution, and Membership Commitment Form must be completed as described in the Guidelines.
How do I enroll online?
When the site administrator enables a secure enrollment link, the Enroll Now buttons open that application in a new tab. Until then, submit the request-information form so a representative can help.
